    As a member of our core Engineering Team, the Telecommunications System Engineer will work various engineering tasks in support of the a government, carrier class Voice over IP communication system operating on a BroadSoft platform.


    Applying telecommunications eingeering principles, responsibilities may include assisting with research and development tasks to facilitate development and enhancement of the system. Preparing studies and presentations on communications concepts. Designing, configuring, testing, implementing and maintaining telecommunication capabilities including WAN and LAN. Evaluates network changes for operational impact. Analyses network performance, useage and traffic flows, accesses and interfaces, transmission techniques and protocols. Executes testing activities associated with new features and system upgrades. Other duties as assigned.


    The successful candidate will be a self-starter who demonstrates initiative and team work. As part of the selection process, the candidate must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and possess a willingness to learn and become proficient with the BroadSoft BroadWorks platform. Entry level candidates with a BS degree in Computer Science or Telecommunications will be considered for this position, with the expectation of some demonstrated applied practical experience (i.e. internships, home gaming, etc.).


    A  good understanding of some of the following technical requirements, or the ability to learn quickly is a must:

    • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
    • Working technical knowledge of Linux and Windows Server operating systems
    • Excellent understanding of Computer network fundamentals and working knowledge of network troubleshooting tools, e.g. Ping, ipconfig, trace route
    • Knowledge of VOIP and SIP
    • Experience using putty/winscp
    • Experience with packet capture tools like Wireshark and TCPDump
    • Experience in Perl/Bash Scripting is a huge plus


    US Citizenship required; Secret security clearance desired.
