The Black Belt (BB) is a recognized authority across multiple areas of expertise. The candidate will provide leadership at a technical and programmatic level for teams to accomplish Projects and Rapid Improvement Events (Kaizen.) The BB will provide leadership to problem definition, identification of avenues of approach, identification of applicable resources, and execution of tasks within the project or event. The Black Belt facilitator will be capable of facilitation of moderate to highly complex approaches (Value Stream Mapping, QFD, Root Cause Analysis, etc) using diverse methods and tools with a focus on achieving desired customer outcomes. Specific responsibilities:
• Lead & facilitate business/mission improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma and other industry best practice structured problem solving methods (from continual process improvement to major business process re-engineering).
• Utilize Systems Engineering knowledge, approaches, and best practices to serve as a framework for improvement efforts
• Utilize advanced methods of developing and managing enterprise level and enterprise-wide strategic alignment and deployment
• Drive organizational change management
• Perform project management
• Develop and track metrics associated with process areas
• Mentor and develop other LSS Green Belts and trained Black Belts
Trained or Certified Black Belt (BB) with experience in continual improvement/business transformation methods. Requires experience with Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Quality Function Deployment (QFD), Root Cause Analysis techniques, utilized in a Rapid Improvement Event/Kaizen manner or as a longer-duration project. Experience chartering projects, working with Sr. Leadership/Champion/Sponsor to define scope & deliverables, and lead teams using DMAIC, DMADV, and other approaches is required. Ability to effectively manage team/group dynamics and overcome obstacles. Candidate is required to have experience in developing process maps/perform process modeling. Experience with COTS modeling tools such as MS Visio, iGrafx is a plus. Selected candidate must have effective time management skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
The selected candidate will also have experience/exposure to systems engineering competencies, such as requirements development, system architecture, integration, verification & validation/test. Experience in developing performance metrics and measurements is desired. Project management experience, and PMI PMP certification is desired. Agile certifications (Scaled Agile Framework, SCRUM, etc) and or ITIL is a plus.
Educational Requirements: Bachelors degree with 10-12 years of experience, or Masters degree with 8-10 years of experience in engineering, science, or mathematics discipline. Active TS/SCI clearance required.
