Responsibilities

Conducts research in design, development, testing and utilization of electronic data processing software for sensor acquisition and actuator control systems. Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions for onboard ship and submarine research. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of National Instruments data acquisition modules and LabVIEW software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops utility, simulation, and testing programs. Ensures software standards are met. Analyzes user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Coordinates software system installations and monitors equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met.  Conduct Independent Verification and Validation of existing LabVIEW software at customer site in West Bethesda, MD.  Conduct testing with actual system hardware and document test results.  Some travel (< 30%) required to customer test sites for software system installation, checkout, operation, and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

Minimum B.S. degree in Engineering, Science or Applied Math or closely related field. 

Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience developing LabVIEW software. 

National Instruments certification in LabVIEW highly desirable.  DoD SECRET clearance required.
