General Job Summary:
Using a holistic approach, designs, develops, evaluates and modifies end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics. Ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods. Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower level detailed implementation requirements. Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development. Designs interfaces and brings system elements together so they work as a whole.
The specific position
responsibilities will include working with users to understand their needs and requirements for scheduling of satellite communication systems, performing analysis to ensure the system and segment design will meet the user needs, documenting the requirements, working closely with implementing contractors to ensure implementation meets requirements, assisting in testing of requirements, and serving as the expert when issues with scheduling of the system arise. Develop briefings to explain analysis and requirements/implementation specifics. Work closely with program office PM to ensure thorough understanding of requirements. Develop a detailed understanding of the specific system, as well as a general understanding of all the systems supported by the contract to look for efficiencies and commonalities. Coordinate between the customer and other government stakeholders, while working toward further integrating multiple systems into a single customer office and eventually into the same functional baseline.
As a junior position, they individual will start out in a basic functional area such as IT Support and/or Systems Scheduling. Once the broader systems are better understood (usually within 6 months), the individual will be move to a specific program area.
General knowledge of satellite communication systems.
Knowledge of system engineering processes – full system lifecycle experience - interpretation of user requirements, allocation to segments within a system, requirements development, and documentation, risk management, verification and validation, etc.

BS in Aerospace Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Math, Computer Science or similar discipline
ABILITY TO OBTAIN A TS/SCI w/poly
Requires 0 to 2 years with BS
Prior experience with the customer agency and the primary systems being used by the customer.
Prior experience supporting satellite systems.
Prior experience supporting IT systems.
Prior experience using MS Project for developing project schedules.
