Join our Team! We are hiring a Requirements Engineer. This position is located in Colorado Springs, CO.
The candidate will collaborate directly with the prime contractor, management, engineers, government customer and stakeholders. The candidate will apply systems engineering principles to ensure mission success.
This Requirements Engineering position will provide requirements management and systems engineering knowledge and skills to support the acquisition, design, and sustainability of assets that support our nation’s access to space and our space superiority. This position strives to enable the innovative and effective definition of systems that support surveillance, weather, tracking, telemetry, and flight object commanding, latest cloud and communications network technologies, and training tools for space operations.
General requirements: Designs, develops, evaluates and modifies end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics. Ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods. Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower level detailed implementation requirements. Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development. Works with architectural design teams to identify system functions, activities, interfaces and articulates requirement that bring system elements together so they work as a whole. Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Customer liaison and support for business development activities for understanding, explaining, and shaping requirements. Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts. Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with multi-discipline engineering teams to develop lower level detail.
Specific requirements: Work on team to develop, refine, track and manage requirements. Utilize and understanding of military and industry standards for documenting various levels of a system architecture to create system/product specifications. Utilize knowledge of DOORS and other various tools associated with requirements to manage and create traceability, requirement, change, or other type modules/tools. Work within Navy’s NCERT system where the requirements are currently hosted. Provide and build traceability matrices between Operational Requirements (ORD or CPD), and other architectural products, and be able to articulate them and their value to Government stakeholders for projects, and special studies. Work with test team and other stakeholders to identify verification cross reference matrices, parent/child reports, and other requirement analysis documents and metric tools.
Requires 8 to 10 years with BS/BA or 6 to 8 years with MS/MA or 3 to 5 years with PhD.
Experience as a requirements management engineer supporting DoD Programs. Secret clearance required. Excellent communications skills and experience interacting with Government customers. Familiarity with DOORS is required.
Use of DOORS DXL scripting desired.
Familiarity with DoDAF or other Model Based System Engineering techniques desired. INCOSE certification is desired. Some travel may be required in this role.
