Vencore is looking for an engineer who has hands-on experience in both .NET and Java technologies, who will participate on an Agile development team in various phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) including requirements analysis, application design, software development and unit/integration testing. Selected candidate will report to our Reston, VA location to support O&M activities and Enhancement releases on our on-going GSA programs.


Following are the job responsibilities for this position:

- Employ Agile development methodology for release implementation

- Participate in daily scrums, milestone reviews, sprint planning, and other project team meetings as needed

- Devise effective ideas that will deliver benefit to the customer; Develop and demonstrate these concepts independently

- Develop and document design recommendations

- Participate in planning and development activities from conceptual design to implementation of releases

- Primarily work on .NET releases, but also contribute to development activities in Java when needed

- Participate and provide support as needed in other areas of SDLC

- Provide overall support to the team, prioritize tasks and resolve issues within area of responsibility

- Assist with analysis of O&M issues, work on defect corrections and escalate more complex issues to more experienced specialists

- Identify workarounds or temporary solutions that could be implemented to circumvent a problem prior to implementation of a permanent solution

- Provide installation and maintenance support for systems, as needed


-  BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related discipline, with minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in .NET and Java technologies

- Solid experience in ASP.NET/C#, .NET framework 4.0+ and Visual Studio 2012 or higher is a must

- Good Experience with standard .NET framework/Webforms

- Hands-on experience with J2EE, JSP, Struts, Spring/Hibernate

- Experience with one or more industry standard Java IDEs - Eclipse, JDeveloper is a plus

- Experience with HTML 4/5, CSS, JavaScript and AJAX, SOAP is a plus

- Experience with Configuration Management (CM) processes and version control tools (example: Subversion/SVN)

- Oracle PL/SQL experience with 2 years writing and understanding packages and stored procedures

- Experience with Agile development process and Team Foundation Server (TFS) is highly desirable

- Very good problem-solving skills, motivated, goal-oriented, willing to learn

- Positive attitude towards work and colleagues, a team player

- Versatile and flexible to work in different roles when needed

- Good verbal and written communication skills


- Must successfully pass a government background investigation (MBI). Previous successful NACI or MBI or clearance is a plus
