This position is part of a government-contractor team supporting full-scale submarine tests in the Fort Lauderdale area and The Bahamas. Responsible for developing, maintaining, upgrading, and operating acoustic and electromagnetic measurement systems and software. Assists in determining computer user needs; analyzing system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; preparing operating instructions; designing and developing utility programs. Ensures software standards are met. Analyzes user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Assists in coordinating software system installations and monitoring equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met. Some local and long distance travel to client sites at Fort Lauderdale and The Bahamas (approximately 25% - 50% time).
Requires Bachelor’s degree (in Engineering, Math, Science, Computer Science or related field) or equivalent, and five to ten years of related experience. Must be proficient in at least one object-oriented language such as C#, C++ or Java, in order of preference. Course work and experience in physics, wave theory, signal processing, and acoustics is especially desirable. System administration experience and related certifications (e.g. CompTIA Security+) is desirable. Must have active DoD security clearance (Secret or above); U.S. citizenship required. Ability to express ideas clearly and succinctly both verbally and through the written word is essential. Above all, candidate must be a team player with strong customer interface skills.
