Manages and directs scientific and/or analytical department resources and activities. Plans and directs research activities relating to the investigation of new technologies and experiments directed at the practical application of scientific theories and processes. Technical approval responsibility for research studies. Develops and recommends corporate policies and procedures consistent with organization objectives. Manages department’s assets, hardware and software, and any of the other related programs or systems within the department. Oversees researchers and that monitor, sample, and assess analytical methods, techniques, and equipment. Coordinates with technical support personnel to conduct prototype runs for products or processes. Provides technical responsibility for planning, organizing and coordinating test procedures on current and future projects. Works with the Scientific and Business Development teams to ensure accuracy in the process from study award to implementation. Participates in technical reviews for key clients as needed. Communicates with company personnel on projects, priorities, timetables and budgets as required. Interacts with customers and/or vendors. Develops short term and long term goals of scientific research and analysis.
o Master’s degree or higher in science or engineering.
o Ten or more years IC research and development (R&D) experience.
o Five or more years of program management experience planning, leading, and completing scientific research projects.
o Demonstrated ability to manage a variety of projects simultaneously and work successfully in a dynamic team environment.
o Current knowledge of research, reporting, and analysis on scientific and technical topics
o Demonstrated successful interactions with elite technical advisory groups (e.g., National Academies, JASONs).
o Experience with collaboration spaces
o Hands-on laboratory experience performing basic or applied scientific research
